Sarah Scout is a commercial gallery established to represent, and develop opportunities for, a number of outstanding early to mid-career artists with critically engaged conceptual practices.
Sarah Scout’s primary focus is to present a program of challenging contemporary art and to represent its selected artists in a range of local and international situations.
The gallery is located within Von Haus – an art, design and retail hub based in one of Melbourne’s few remaining Georgian buildings. Originally built by the butcher William Crossley between 1847–49, the building has housed some of Victoria’s pre-eminent colonial artists, including Eugene von Guerard who lived and worked in the building in the 1850s. Sarah Scout shares these iconic premises with the café Von Haus, jewellers Glitzern and fashion house S!X.
